As one might imagine, there was quite a bit of anticipation and excitement about life with the use of my legs. Everything we did from a preparation standpoint made perfect sense, and even though the MRV and the ultrasounds indicated a reduced amount of blood flow on the left side of my my neck, there was nothing to do after they got inside with the wire and the angioplasty.

Although I am disappointed that there was nothing to do once they got in there, I am satisfied that we took the necessary steps to arrive in Georgetown and participate in this experiment. Dr. Neville, who was the vascular surgeon, claims that he has only performed this surgery on twenty-five patients. I found that medicine is not an exact science.
